My name is Veronika Gamaley and i am a fiber artist, painter, and art teacher residing in southern California. I completed the calarts school of art and have been working with children for over 10 years. i believe that art SHOULD be ACCESSIBLE to everyone as a tool for enrichment and self expression.
I have been working with kids since about 2010. I started as an assistant to my art teacher who had a small art school in Menlo Park California. I helped her teach art history and watercolor painting from 2010-2018. I also worked for a summer camp and afterschool program in San Mateo California from 2014-2016 where I taught both machine and hand sewing for kids from 6-12 years old. During my time at CalArts I was in the (CAP) Community Arts Partnership Program and I was a teacher’s assistant and later a teacher for large groups of kids. I began creating my own projects and have been teaching at Revo Academy in Thousand Oaks. I currently work with k-8 and teach art history.
I believe that art is beneficial to everyone and should be accessible to everyone who is interested. I notice that many kids I work with can be paralyzingly fearful of making mistakes, uncertain of their own value in the world, and have set beliefs of what being creative is supposed to look like. I strive to help them break out of this way of thinking and strengthen their positive self image by finding value and connection through self expression.
